Seven Fun Facts About Whippets

Whippets are known as the “poor man’s racehorse” and are faster than greased lightning when he has something to chase. But when he’s not running, the Whippet is quite content to stretch out and relax!

Here are seven fun facts about this slender speed king:

One – The whippet does not not bark very much. This is not a vocal breed and some whippets don’t bark at all. This trait makes them good apartment dwellers!

Two – Whippets are smart. They are very intelligent and also very obedient, a great combination.

Three – Whippets have a low maintenance coat. Their coats are short and smooth and they need only the occasional bath. They do shed though, and should be brushed weekly.

Four – Whippets belong to the Greyhound group. For their size, they are the fastest breed.

Five – Whippets are generally very healthy dogs and don’t have a lot of medical problems. 

Six – Whippets can run up to an astounding 35 miles per hour!
