Breed Spotlight – Weimaraner

Many people are familiar with the silvery-gray Weimaraner because of the work of American artist and photographer William Wegman, who photographed his own dogs, Man Ray and Fay Ray, in human clothes and poses. But Mr. Wegman was not the first to appreciate these sleek streamlined canines, as President Eisenhower owned a Weimaraner as did movie star Grace Kelly. As breeds go, the Weimaraner is relatively young, having been developed in Germany in the early 1800’s and not arriving in America until the late 1920.
